Burn and Surgical Research at MedStar Washington Hospital Center
Clinical, Translational, and Basic Science Aimed at Improving Patient Care
Dedicated to the study of surgical and chronic wounds and traumatic injuries, including wound healing after cutaneous trauma and burn, biophotonics/bioimaging to non-invasively diagnose disease pathology, burn pathophysiology, systems biology and integrated studies aimed at the host response to physical and environmental trauma
The Firefighters’ Burn and Surgical Research Laboratory (FBSRL) is the first research laboratory in the Washington area to focus on burn injuries and is located at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center, home of the only adult burn facility in the region. The Laboratory, dedicated on September 15, 2009, and the research program it houses came to fruition thanks in a large part to the physical and financial support from the DC Firefighters’ Burn Foundation and many local firefighters.
